The Ford Motor Company Fund donated $100,000 this year to the Gleaners Community Food Bank, to purchase diapers, and enough baby formula to feed 7,000 infants for a full month.
“Meeting the most basic needs of families is the first step toward building stronger communities,” said Ford Motor Company Fund President Jim Vella. “Children need nutritious meals to build a strong foundation mentally and physically, and we hope this contribution will help give them a healthy start on a promising future.”
The Ford Volunteer Corps also organized a Diaper & Formula Drive, which accepted hundreds of additional pounds of baby formula, and more than 11,000 diapers. A text-to-give Ford Baby Formula Drive is accepting additional donations from Ford employees and the public. (If you would like to donate, text “FORD” to 41444, and follow the link.)
Said Gleaners Community Food Bank President Gerry Brisson: “I’m so grateful to Ford and its employees for launching this tremendous effort to help struggling families with young children. With these two very essential needs covered, parents can meet their children’s other needs – like providing lots of love and giving them a better opportunity to grow up healthy and strong.”
The Ford Motor Company Fund has given nearly $2 million to the Gleaners Community Food Bank in Southeast Michigan over the past 6 years.
