Sometimes, rather than relying on its own in-house designers to come up with new Lego kits, the Danish toy company crowd-sources proposals for new packages from users online.
This Lego 2015 Ford F-150 model is just such a proposal, constructed and submitted to the Lego Ideas website by user CaptainAwesomeMan. It needs 10,000 total votes of support within the next 388 days if it is to have any hope of being approved for production; currently, the kit has 1,204 supporters.
CaptainAwesomeMan’s 2015 Ford F-150 is the spitting image of the life-size production vehicle, with an immense attention to detail. The doors, hood, and tailgate all swing open; the front grille and radiator can be removed to reveal a Lego rendition of the truck’s available 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine; the front wheels can even be turned left or right by twisting the steering wheel. Inside, a movable gear-selector sits between the two adjustable front seats, and Lego recreations of the Ford F-150’s pedals, cup holders, and HVAC system are all in place.
In fact, perhaps the only thing that we can foresee working against this Lego Ford F-150 in its attempt to get the green light is that it puts the company’s existing F-150 Raptor kit to shame. The proportions on this model truck look much more correct, and all of the minute considerations add up to one impressive, instantly-recognizable Ford F-150 model.
