The bright yellow Hennessey VelociRaptor F-150 used in series 22, episode 6 of the BBC’s Top Gear program was sold at auction last week, bringing in a cool $100,000, which will go to Paralyzed Veterans of America.
The creation of tuning firm Hennessey Performance Engineering, the Hennessey VelociRaptor expanded upon the already-impressive performance of the discontinued Ford SVT Raptor pickup with a 2.9-liter supercharger, and available upgrades for the suspension, wheels, and more. This particular truck, used by former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson to rescue co-host Richard Hammond from the wilderness of British Columbia, was auctioned by Barrett-Jackson at its annual Palm Beach, Florida event.
According to Barrett-Jackson, 100% of the “hammer price” of this Hennessey VelociRaptor will go to Paralyzed Veterans of America – an organization which provides programs and services to men and women paralyzed through their service in the US Armed Forces. Beside its supercharged, 6.2L “Trinity” V8, this truck features a 6-speed automatic transmission, upgraded bumpers and wheels, and a vibrant, roof-mounted light bar.
