The Ford EcoSport – Ford’s tiniest crossover utility vehicle – has nabbed a mighty big record for its mighty big billboard in central Madrid, Spain; the 5,265-square-meter advertisement has been certified as the “Largest Billboard” ever by Guiness World Records. Weighing a total of 2,000 kg, the enormous advertisement takes up the equivalent of 20 tennis courts on Madrid’s iconic Espana Building.
The record-winning Ford EcoSport billboard will remain in place until the end of February, at which point it will be dismantled and donated to the Apascovi Foundation – an employment center in Madrid for people with disabilities – and the materials will be given a second life.
“Our Guiness World Records title for the Largest billboard demonstrates the creativity that drives our company,” says Ford Spain Director of Marketing Elena Burgete. “Ford’s message is ‘Go Further’, and that’s what we aimed to do with our campaign for the launch of the new EcoSport. It’s a great way to deliver the message ‘Life is out there, are you?’ to as many people as possible, right in the heart of Madrid.”
Ford’s billboard in Madrid surpasses the previous “largest billboard” record established in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, by nearly 242 square meters.
The Ford EcoSport has just been updated for Europe for the 2018 model year, gaining a fresh new face, and for the first time, Intelligent AWD as an option with EcoBlue diesel-equipped models.
