Ford came out of the blue and dropped a package that left heavy-duty truck fans excited with the Super Duty Tremor off-road package. The truck aims directly at the Ram Power Wagon and brings off-road playtime capability to the workday power that heavy-duty truck fans need. Ford’s new Super Duty Tremor Off-road Package video shows the truck in action at work and play and gives a good overview of what the Tremor can do.
We talked about the Super Duty Tremor package at length, and the truck has a huge number of different components to make it more capable off-road. The big features include 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires. Ford says those are the largest diameter tires available on a heavy-duty truck. The front of the truck has a 2-inch lift and a shorter air dam for ground clearance.
The rear end of the truck is lited about to inches, and the Tremor package gives custom 1.7-inch piston twin-tube shocks all around. Ford also fits Super Duty Tremor equipped vehicles with a locking rear diff and a Dana limited-slip front differential and full-length off-road running boards.
Tremor buyers get selectable drive modes to dial the truck in for the conditions. Super Duty Tremor is available on the 4×4 single-rear-wheel F-250 and F-350 models with SuperCrew cab and 6.75-foot box in XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trim. Buyers can opt for the 7.3-liter gas V8 or the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel. F-250 buyers do have to option their Super Duty Tremor with the high-capacity trailer towing package. We also learned that Ford very nearly called the Super Duty Tremor the FX4 Max. The automaker also gave up some details on why it chose to build the Tremor.
