Ford Motor Company of Australia is recalling 1,201 EcoSport crossovers over an issue with the rear suspension that could increase the risk of an accident.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the rear twist beam — which forms part of the vehicle’s rear suspension — may be fitted with pivot bolts that have not been tightened to specification and consequently could break.
The hazards: if the pivot bolts are not tightened to spec, vehicle handling will be compromised, increasing the risk of an accident.
Affected vehicles: Ford EcoSport vehicles manufactured November 29, 2013 through April 11, 2014.
Number of vehicles affected: 1,201.
The fix: Ford will write to owners of all affected vehicles. Until the safety recall service is completed, the vehicle should be driven with caution and at moderate speed.
Owners should: customers looking to find out if their vehicle is included in this Ford Australia recall should contact their Ford authorized dealership for inspection and rectification. Alternatively, owners may contact Ford customer service with questions by using the following information.
