We imagine that many a Ford faithful is hanging onto his or her twelfth-generation, EcoBoost-equipped Ford F-150 full-size pickup, perhaps feeling a bit spurned by all the love and attention given to owners of the new, aluminum-bodied iterations of the truck.
Rejoice! Aftermarket supplier Borla hasn’t forgotten about you; in fact, the company has just released details regarding a new range of exhaust and turbocharger upgrade kits for the 2011-2014 Ford F-150’s turbocharged 3.5-liter engine. A full chart of the three different stage kits can be found below.
Borla’s Stage 1 kit consists of a cat-back exhaust system with a higher-flow muffler and outlet pipes. These kits are each made using T-304 stainless steel, and offer customers a choice of different sound-levels. More importantly, Borla says the Stage 1 cat-back exhaust kit “adds power, low-end torque, aggressive sound and motorsport style.”
The Stage 2 Borla kit for the twelfth-generation Ford F-150 EcoBoost includes Stage 1, and adds a higher-flow air filter and a custom engine tune meant to allow the customer to take full advantage of their new, more efficient exhaust system. Finally, Stage 3 features all-of-the-above, and tosses in a Borla Y-pipe (with or without catalysts) and bolt-on, high-performance BorgWarner turbochargers. Those turbos are fitted with extended-tip compressor wheels made of lightweight billet aluminum, “to maximize performance and minimize turbo lag.” Naturally, the custom tune included with this kit is entirely unique for this setup.
