Back in October, Ford Motor Company announced a two-month promotion called “Friends & Neighbors” that would slash as much as $2,000 from the purchase price of most 2014 and ’15 models through November and December. The promotion guaranteed customers from November 3rd, through January 4th a haggle-free price of just $200 above the dealer invoice (what Ford Motor Company bills the dealer for a given vehicle).
Apparently, that promotion turned out to be a dud, with Automotive News reporting that the sales promotion won’t continue through early January as planned. Ford Motor Company will offer a more traditional year-end Holiday Sales Event in its stead, starting tomorrow, December 1st.
A Ford Motor spokewoman reportedly commented on the termination of the “Friends & Neighbors” promotion, saying that “dealers offered insights on the kinds of offers resonating most with customers in-market, and we are updating our plan based on their feedback. We will continue to be competitive yet disciplined on incentives and offers for customers.”
Ford Motor Company had been promoting the sales event with numerous ads, referring to the year-end pricing as an “inside deal” normally reserved for Ford employees’ friends and families.
