The plot of the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season thickened Sunday, with both Team Penske Ford drivers getting into it with Joe Gibbs Racing’s Matt Kenseth in the Goody’s Headache Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway.
Last month, No. 22 Ford Fusion driver Joey Logano was sitting in second behind Kenseth at Kansas when the Joe Gibbs Racing driver blocked him on the outside. Logano then got into the back of Kenseth, lifting his rear bumper off the ground and spinning him. Logano went on to win the race while Kenseth got knocked out of the Chase. Logano also cut Kenseth off at Dover as they entered the pits, creating more bad blood between the two.
Sunday, Brad Keselowski was sitting in the front row with Kenseth for a restart when he got into the side of Kenseth’s Toyota and spun him, sending him into Kurt Busch and badly damaging his racecar. Fed up with the Penske camp, Kenseth purposely wrecked Logano later in the race putting an end to both drivers’ days.
For Team Penske fans, it was a brutal end to what has so far been a strong post-season playoff. For fans of race winner Jeff Gordon, it was a perfectly timed turn of events. Check out the videos of both incidents below, and feel free to share what you think of the outcome in the comments.
