A 2016 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet Is Already On eBay

As hard as it may be to believe, in the very brief time between its debut at this year’s SEMA aftermarket show and the moment you get through this sentence, a 2016 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet has already become available on eBay. It’s been listed by a dealer in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, who claims that this is the first and only Mustang Cobra Jet available to-date.

The dealer is asking $103,980 for the turnkey drag racer – slightly higher than the base MSRP of $99,990.

Of course, that’s not surprising given the rarity – and novelty – of the Mustang Cobra Jet. The new 2016 model picks up where previous Jets left off, essentially providing a factory turnkey option for drag racers. As-is, the Mustang Cobra Jet isn’t street legal, but Ford claims that it will run 8-second quarter-miles with ease. The stock 5.0-liter Coyote V8 of the Mustang GT powers the rear wheels, albeit fed by a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger in this application. The 2016 Mustang Cobra Jet is also the only current-generation Mustang available with a solid-rear axle – an ideal suspension design for quick launches.

Only 50 examples of the 2016 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet are planned for production, so we’re sure this eBay listing won’t be around forever. Just don’t make the mistake of buying one for your daily driver.
