This week, Ford Performance offered us a firsthand look at the exterior design philosophy behind what is easily one of the most hotly-anticipated supercars of the present era: the 2017 Ford GT.
Taking us through the highlights are Ford Performance Aerodynamicist Bernie Marcus, and 2017 Ford GT Exterior Design Manager Garen Nicoghosian. Although designed from an early stage to be a road car, Nicoghosian says that the 2017 Ford GT with its race-derived engine showed obvious signs of being perfect for motorsport. Many of the road car’s features are thus informed by the requirements of professional competition.
Needless to say, the design of the 2017 Ford GT is equally informed by the nameplate’s long and storied history.
“We’re just caretakers of this legend,” says Nicoghosian. “We’re going to be passing it off, and what we would like to do is make sure that whatever we pass off is worthy of little kids’ posters ten years from now, fifteen years from now.”
Uhm, “little kids’ posters?” Try grown adults’ garage and basement decor.
