Ford Performance and Chip Ganassi Racing recently announced their driver lineup for the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech United Sportscar Championship. Driving their two Ford GT racecars in 2016 will be Ryan Briscoe, Dirk Müller, Richard Westbrook and former driver the CGR Ford EcoBoost Daytona Prototype, Joey Hand.
Hand, 36, is a seasoned sportscar driver with both a 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring win under his belt. The former of those came with CGR, when he and Scott Pruett, Memo Rojas and Graham Rahal drove a Riley-BMW DP to victory in 2011. He has also raced in the German DTM series, in Australian V8 Supercars and has a class podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
CGR recently caught up with Hand for a short interview video. In it, Hand discusses how much progress the team has made since he first joined on, how the car drives and how they make changes to it and, of course, how special the car looks (he says its “the coolest looking car in the world.”)
