As we reported yesterday, the 2017 Ford GT supercar will be debuting a new Gorilla Glass windshield previously unseen in the automotive world. We anticipate seeing the advanced new windshield making its way into plenty more applications in the future, but for now, it will be exclusive to the GT.
Here to outline the reasoning behind debuting the new technology on the 2017 Ford GT is Ford VP of Global Purchasing Hau Thai-Tang, who explains in the video above that the supercar is “really the epitome of the latest Ford innovation. It’s a showcase for [Ford] in terms of new technologies, new innovative solutions.” The 12 or so pounds saved over conventional glass, says Mr. Thai-Tang, will grace the 2017 Ford GT with improved acceleration, braking, and cornering.
Marginally, we guess. Still, so long as we’re talking about the no-compromises 2017 Ford GT supercar, a featherweight chunk of which is constructed of super light carbon fiber, Ford may as well leave every conceivable corner uncut.
