We caught our first full review of the new 2016 Ford Focus RS today, courtesy of the UK’s Autocar, which did nothing whatsoever to diminish our fervent need to drive the hot-hatch ourselves.
The review above is hosted by Autocar‘s Vicky Parrott, who approaches the Ford Focus RS with some reservation. But of course, by the end of the drive, that reservation has turned to enthusiasm. Parrott praises the Ford Focus RS’ RWD-like character, courtesy of a torque-vectoring system that can not only send up to 70 percent of engine torque to the rear axle, but also route torque between each of the rear wheels.
At the end of it, Ms. Parrott concludes that while it would be easy for a car so loaded with advanced drivetrain technology to fail to meet expectations, the 2016 Ford Focus RS exceeds them, proving itself a precise, flattering track machine, as well as a willing partner for the driver’s rubber-burning hooning aspirations.
