As you may be aware, a photo purporting to show the production version of the new Ford GT supercar recently surfaced, detailing just a handful of subtle changes slated to arrive before the GT launches later this year.
Of course, the emergence of the photo so close to the 2016 Detroit Auto Show forces us to consider an important question: will the production 2017 Ford GT make an appearance there? We’ve no evidence one way or the other, but our best guess is that indeed, the production version of the new Ford GT will be rolled out in Detroit next week.
As utterly unattainable as the roughly $400,000 Ford GT supercar is to the average showgoer, the halo car has already proven to be a huge draw – one that can even magically attract children. Chances are that Ford will continue to roll out the car at shows for the foreseeable future, simply to bring bodies into the automaker’s booth. Add to that the fact that the subject of this year’s Ford/Revell model car giveaway is the 2017 Ford GT, and it becomes plain that Ford would be wise to show the latest iteration of the pre-production supercar – even if it looks essentially the same.
