Another day, another juicy set of spy shots: spy photographers recently spotted a camouflage-clad Ford EcoSport mini crossover testing near the automaker’s Dearborn, Michigan headquarters.
This is the second sighting of the Ford EcoSport CUV in Michigan that we’ve reported on, after a series of spy shots emerged last December. This second spotting only serves to confirm our suspicions that the Ford EcoSport is bound for the US before the third generation emerges in a few years.
The Ford EcoSport, which is based on the same platform as the Fiesta subcompact, would slot in below the Focus-based Escape CUV, competing directly with other mini CUVs like the Chevrolet Trax and Jeep Renegade. Back in January, Ford CEO Mark Fields indicated that the company would introduce four new CUVs and SUVs in the US over the coming years; the Ford EcoSport looks like a sure bet to take up one of those spots.
You can see the full gallery of spy shots of the Ford EcoSport on the Automotive News website. The site suggests that the mini CUV could arrive in America in late 2017 as a 2018 model.
