As of 2016, every NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racecar must be equipped with a digital dash and gauge cluster. That’s right – even NASCAR, the world’s most simplified form of racing, has decided to put an electronic screen in the dashboards of their racecars. A sign of the times if there ever was one.
Ford has decided to team up with Aric Almirola to give us NASCAR fans a better look at the new digital dash. The screen allows drivers to tailor the gauges to their liking and contains 16 pages of information, representing a big change from the tachometer and temperature gauge cluster most stock cars have.
We love that NASCAR has adopted this more advanced technology and hopes it is one of many more advanced technologies the sport will embrace in coming years. Get familiar with the screen in the video above and be sure to tune into this Sunday’s Daytona 500 as Ford and its new 2017 NASCAR Fusion shoot for the win
