Ford Scholarships Put Military, Vets, And Their Families Through Red Cross Training

This year, the Ford Motor Company Fund will be providing scholarships to military members, veterans, and their families to undergo workplace development training with the American Red Cross, in order to become Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs).

This is the fourth year that Ford has participated in the program, with a total of 175 scholarships ready to be given out. The Red Cross training will help students to provide care with First Aid, CPR, and AED certification in nursing homes and a number of other health care settings. Over the past three years, military family students have completed the Ford scholarship program with a pass rate of about 90 percent, and a 75 percent employment rate.

“Founded by a battlefield nurse, the Red Cross has supported men and women in uniform for more than 100 years,” said American Red Cross Vice President Koby Langley. “Combined with Ford’s unwavering commitment of our nation’s heroes, we have created a strong partnership to help build more resilient military families.

“These scholarships will help military families by providing access to high-quality education and vital job development and work readiness resources to help graduates find employment anywhere in the world.”
