Lincoln Navigator ‘Time To Eat’ Ad Airs During Grammys: Ad Break

Acclaimed actor Matthew McConaughey is back in another television ad for Ford’s luxury Lincoln Motor Company division, piloting the 2016 Lincoln Navigator in a 30-second spot which aired during Monday night’s Grammy awards.

This Lincoln Navigator commercial was directed by Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Milk) with a more comedic, lighthearted mood than earlier McConaughey Lincoln ads, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive). In the spot, Mr. McConaughey is driving along in a rural setting deliberating where to eat, with two passengers in tow: a German shorthair pointer, and a Weimaraner.

“Lincoln and I wanted the new ad to be more lighthearted and fun, so when they pitched the ‘driving with dogs’ idea I was in,” said Matthew McConaughey. “People love their dogs, I’ve got three myself, and yes, I, like most of you, even talk to them.”

This 2016 Lincoln Navigator ad is quite the departure from the actor’s earlier, monologue-driven work with the luxury brand, but even with McConaughey’s star power being the only constant, we’ve no doubt that it will be received just as well.
