Spy photographers in Brazil have managed to capture photos of a prototype 2017 Ford EcoSport mini crossover, shedding light on some of what customers in India and South America can expect when the CUV is updated for those markets for 2017.
A range of spy shots can be found over at IndianAutosBlog.com.
Unlike Europe, which received an updated Ford EcoSport just last year, customers in other global markets still have at least several months of waiting ahead of them. From the photographs, we can see that the 2017 Ford EcoSport will introduce a fresh new instrument cluster with neon blue needles on all of the dials. A larger digital display occupies the center of the cluster, while otherwise, the dash and center stack look relatively unchanged.
On the outside, in one photo, we can just make out what looks to be a revised headlamp; Indian Autos Blog likens its design to those on another vehicle unknown to the US market: the 2016 Ford Endeavour (a.k.a. “Everest”). Our source indicates that the spare wheel will be mounted externally at the rear of the vehicle, although none of these photos can corroborate that.
What we’re most interested in at this junction is whether or not the 2017 Ford EcoSport crossover might be US-bound. The mini CUV subsegment is on the rise, along with the rest of the broader SUV segment, and Ford has so far been left without an entrant here.
With that in mind, what we might effectively be looking at in these spy photographs is none other than the first US-market Ford EcoSport CUV. Stay tuned for more.
