America, here’s a chance to pay your respects to Ford Australia’s soon-to-be-terminated production without ever having to set foot on a plane: a 1971 Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III tribute on eBay.
Today, the Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III is a very collectible car. But back in its day, it was reportedly the fastest production four-door in the world, powered by a 351 Cleveland V8 with a Holley carburetor which produced somewhere just south of 400 horsepower. This 1971 example is not the genuine article, but it is a painstaking recreation of that car, with “no expense spared, and no detail overlooked.”
It even retains its original right-hand drive layout.
As such, a few liberties were taken with this Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III tribute, such as the installation of a T5 manual transmission with a hydraulically-operated clutch, a limited-slip differential, four-wheel disc brakes, and power steering. The body is nearly perfect, shod in the factory True Blue hue with factory graphics, with a brand new black interior which perfectly mimics the original one.
Now, the price: this 1971 Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III tribute is listed on eBay for $69,991 – a relative bargain for such a superb piece of Australian motoring history. It’s located in Laguna Hills, California, although the seller often ships cars worldwide, sight-unseen.
