Lincoln Sedan Takes Out A 15-Foot Tree, Keeps Driving Like A Champ: Video

The world is a much safer place now, following the arrest of a woman in suburban Chicago who had been driving around on public roads with a 15-foot tree protruding from the front of her Lincoln sedan. The woman is being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to the local Fox affiliate, police in the Chicago suburb of Roselle received a call on the night of January 23rd about a vehicle driving down the road with a tree embedded in its grille. At around 11:10pm, police pulled the car over – what looks to be a third-generation Lincoln Town Car – and noticed that the car’s air bags had deployed. The woman driving was issued a field sobriety test, and failed.

“I’ve been in law enforcement for 28 years and I’ve never seen anything like it,” said Roselle Deputy Chief Roman Tarchala.

As for the Lincoln, we’re just amazed that it was able to keep going, not only surviving the initial impact with the tree, but then being able to push it around upright like some bizarre, absurdly-huge hood ornament. It’s perhaps a testament to the durability of the Lincoln Town Car’s powertrain, the now-extinct Ford “Panther” full-size platform, and its body-on-frame construction – even if this Chicago area drunk driver is maybe not the ideal poster child.
