More Ford GT40 Action With BTCC Champ Andrew Jordan: Video

This year, perhaps in honor of the Ford GT40’s first Le Mans win 50 years ago, Goodwood Road & Racing has added a classic motor race exclusively for Ford GT40 examples which competed pre-1966.

British Touring Car Champion Andrew Jordan will be driving in this race, alongside his teammate and father: British Touring Car driver Mike Jordan. In the video above, the father/son duo take the Ford GT40 Mk I they’ll be driving out onto the track at Donington Park, hoping to get a feel for the car, and suss out what could be improved before the Members’ Meeting.

The Mk I Ford GT40 was powered by a 4.7-liter V8 engine, with this example producing in the neighborhood of 475 horsepower, according to Andrew Jordan. This car is running a straight-pipe exhaust, and the resulting sound is spine-tingling, even from the cabin. Unfortunately, on the day this was shot, the track at Donington Park was cold and wet, meaning that the Jordans could push the Ford GT40 as hard as they perhaps could have otherwise.

It’s nonetheless a joy to watch. Check it out.
