Not just anyone will be allowed by Ford to purchase the new Ford GT supercar – not only because its $400,000 price tag puts it out of reach for most, but because the automaker is carefully selecting and approving buyers from a pool of applicants. Seeing as the Ford GT will be a rare, highly visible bird, it makes some amount of sense that Ford wouldn’t let the halo car pass to just anyone.
Today, the automaker announced that the application process for the new Ford GT is officially open, and that the batch will cover the first two years of production: 250 units per year, for a total of 500. If approved, a Ford GT customer is then put in touch with a special “Concierge Service” where he or she selects a preferred dealer.
The tailored experience offered by the Ford GT Concierge Service will then continue throughout the customer’s years of GT ownership.
“The purchase process for the Ford GT is as unique as our all-new supercar,” says Ford Performance Global Marketing Manager Henry Ford III. “We understand GT customers are strong ambassadors for Ford Motor Company, and we look forward to providing them a service as distinct as the car itself.”
Interested customers should go to www.FordGT.com to file an application. Applications close on May 12th, at 11:59pm.
