Ford Might Be Developing A ‘Hotter’ Ford Focus ST: Spy Shots

Near the infamous Nürburgring circuit in Nürburg, Germany, spy photographers captured what appears to be a tweaked Ford Focus ST with new aerodynamic pieces, including a set of canards on the front fascia.

Let the speculation begin (and head to the Carscoops website for the spy photos.)

Our best guess is in-line with Carscoops’ theory about the mystery Ford Focus ST: that it is an even hotter version of the FWD performance hatchback, improving on the regular Focus ST in the same way as the new Fiesta ST200 does its predecessor. The ST200 is powered by the same 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine as the regular ST, but it now produces 10 percent more power, and 20 percent more torque. Gearing, steering, and suspension have also been revised.

Likewise, we presume that a new, hotter Ford Focus ST would retain that car’s 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, but power could receive a bump from 252 to 275 horsepower, give or take. Whether the canards, a revised suspension, steering, gearing, etc. make their way onto this alleged, hotter Ford Focus ST remains to be seen.

Stay tuned.
