How many times has this happened to you: you go on a first date with someone, everything goes swimmingly, and you start to think that maybe you’d like to see him or her again, only to find out at the very end of the evening that he or she does not own a Ford automobile?
All the time, right? That’s why FordDate.com is such a nifty idea.
Ford Date is a new dating website for like-minded Ford owners who can’t be bothered to mingle with otherwise eligible bachelors or bachelorettes with cars from lesser automakers like General Motors or Fiat Chrysler. The Ford Date sign-up requires each user to enter a valid Ford Vehicle Identification Number, ensuring that every user shares a genuine love for the Blue Oval. It officially launches later this year.
Only, it won’t, because it was an April Fools’ prank by Koch Auto Group: a Canadian dealership group with a Ford-Lincoln location in the city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Yet, as silly as the premise behind Ford Date is, we could actually imagine an automaker-themed dating site taking off.
For now, we suppose you’ll have to ask each one of your dates what they drive, lest you end the evening smitten with a Volkswagen owner.
