There’s perhaps no more than a handful of classic American cars that could command a price to rival that of an old Ferrari, but the Shelby Daytona Coupe is certainly among them. California-based firm Superformance International makes a Shelby Daytona Coupe replica that’s indistinguishable from the real thing at first look, but even still, its price tag puts it out-of-reach for the vast majority of working people.
Just how much does the Superformance Shelby Daytona cost? Well, the example shown here, driven by Matt Farah in the latest episode of The Smoking Tire’s One Take, wears an eye-watering $165k price tag.
Of course, you’re getting a lot for your money; a 550HP Roush Racing V8 displacing 427 cubic-inches powers the rear wheels. Curb weight hovers around 2,600 pounds, thanks in-part to a fiberglass body, and it features a mild steel tubular space frame. Better still, it’s eligible for entry into the Shelby American Automobile Club registry, and wears a real Shelby CSX9000 chassis number (this particular example is CSX9114).
