Do you find yourself wondering how the new, all-wheel drive Ford Focus RS might do compared to Germany’s best and brightest?
This video from the UK’s Autocar goes a long way in helping to answer that question. In it, Senior Staff Writer Sam Sheehan takes the 2016 Ford Focus RS out to Spa-Francorchamps – the very same track which just hosted the last round of the FIA World Endurance Championship – and attempts to catch up to a Porsche Cayman GT4.
For the unacquainted, the Cayman GT4 is the most track-oriented factory Cayman ever built, with a 380 horsepower 3.8-liter flat-6 borrowed directly from the 911 Carrera S. It ships exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission, and can reach 60 mph from a stop in about 4.2 seconds.
The Ford Focus RS, meanwhile, makes do with roughly 30 less horsepower, and has an additional 500 pounds or so to haul around.
Nonetheless, if you’re expecting the Porsche to simply walk away from the new RS-badged hot-hatch, you may be in for a surprise. Check it out.
