Ford Motor Company is joining the fight against hunger in New York City, having just donated a Ford Transit Mobile Food Pantry to the New York Common Pantry. This upfitted Ford Transit is one in a network of more than 50 which help various food banks deliver meals to the underprivileged.
The New York Common Pantry will use this Ford Transit to expand Nourish – a program which delivers food to low-income seniors, with funding from the New York State Department of Health and the United States Department of Agriculture.
“Ford Motor Company has been making people’s lives better for more than 100 years – not only by building great vehicles, but also through investing in communities,” says Ford Motor Company Fund President Jim Vella. “We are proud to assist New York Common Pantry as they expand their work fighting hunger across New York City.”
Apart from the donation of this Ford Transit Mobile Food Pantry to the New York Common Pantry, Ford is committed to helping fight poverty in NYC in other ways, as well. Ford CEO Mark Fields served as a co-chair of this year’s benefit fundraiser for The Robin Hood Foundation – a charitable organization devoted to alleviating poverty in the city.
