The 2017 Lincoln Continental’s Automatic Welcome Sequence

Last week, Lincoln Motor Company announced that the all-new, 2017 Lincoln Continental full-size luxury sedan would come equipped with the marque’s own Approach Detection technology, which senses whenever the driver comes within an eight-foot radius of the vehicle with the key fob, and automatically greets him or her with a sequence of elegant lighting events.

Above, we’ve shared a video from Lincoln showing exactly what occurs when this automatic welcome is initiated, and it’s pretty nifty.

Granted, the Approach Detection feature on the 2017 Lincoln Continental isn’t entirely new; it first premiered on the MKC luxury crossover for the 2015 model year. Even still, the technology demonstrates that Lincoln understands the luxury segment and how it must deliver not just a product, but an experience. From the gentle, gradual activation of the LED running lights, to the pulsing push-button start in the cabin, to the badge projected onto the ground at the base of each front door, the new Lincoln Continental attempts to do just that.

Check it out.

  1. The welcoming lights on my 2017 Continental do not come on. How can I get them to come on?
