The latest-generation Ford Mustang has just officially launched in Malaysia, according to Malay Mail Online. The right-hand drive Malay market is one of more than 20 new markets opened by Ford’s decision to produce both right-hand and left-hand drive versions of the pony car.
As with most of the Ford Mustang’s global markets, Malaysian buyers will have a choice of either the turbocharged, 2.3-liter Ford Mustang EcoBoost (310HP, 320lb-ft) or the normally-aspirated, 5.0-liter Mustang GT (410HP, 390lb-ft). The former will start at RM488,888, and the latter at RM598,888 (about $117,800 and $144,300, respectively). Malaysia’s choice of exterior colors is limited to Race Red, Shadow Black, Deep Impact Blue, Oxford White, and Magnetic on EcoBoost models; the Mustang GT is available in any of those, plus Triple Yellow.
The Ford Mustang will be sold in Malaysia by its local distributor, Sime Darby Auto Connexion. Considering the scarcity we’ve seen so far in other right-hand drive markets like Australia and the UK, we wouldn’t be at all surprised to learn of a sizeable gap between supply in demand in Malaysia, as well.
