Ken Block’s Entertaining, Donut-Filled Goodwood Hillclimb Run: Video

Professional rally driver and all-around hooligan Ken Block ventured to England this week to take part in the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed, driving his old Ford Fiesta RX43 on the hillclimb.

To our knowledge, the Ford Fiesta RX43 last saw duty in Ken Block’s Gymkhana 8 video, shot on the streets of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. It’s an all-wheel drive rallycross machine based on the road-going Ford Fiesta ST, but graced with 600+ horsepower and a 6-speed sequential racing gearbox. The RX43 has since been replaced by the Ford Focus RS RX in World Rallycross, but it’s good to see that it’s not wasting away in a garage somewhere.

Of course, not content to simply drive the Goodwood hillclimb in a fairly straight, restrained manner, Ken Block stops at a couple of points to amuse the crowds with a few donuts. There’s no telling yet if Block’s decidedly juvenile penchant for lighting up tires has offended the classy, old-money sensibilities of the Goodwood organizers, but we imagine that asking the driver to practice restraint is rather like asking a dog to stop rolling around in the mud.

Ken Block is as Ken Block does.
