Ford Motor Company has filed an application to register Vecto as a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Ford Authority has discovered.
The automaker’s June 30th, 2016 application for a standard character mark is assigned serial number 87090342 and specifies that it will be used for:
- Data collection systems for use with bicycles, namely, computer software and hardware that collect, upload and sync data regarding alternative modes of urban travel to an Internet website via mobile communications devices, applications and platforms
- Retail store services and on-line store services in the field of urban mobility products, namely, data collection system devices for use with bicycles
- Online services, namely, collecting and providing data and information regarding urban route planning and access to urban travel alternatives; providing temporary use of online non-downloadable software for collecting, tracking, analyzing, and distributing data and information regarding urban and mobile activities, namely, providing road condition and traffic information related to urban mobility and multimodal travel
The Ford Authority Take
It would appear that Vecto will be the name of an upcoming Ford service for transportation, mobility, and route planning. The thought of The Blue Oval planning to enter the area is intriguing given that that the space is rapidly becoming hotly contested in the global automotive and technology sectors, and is often seen as shaping the future of the automotive industry.
