The new Ford Focus RS RX competition car continues to prove its worth in the motorsport realm, as the No. 13 example of Andreas Bakkerud just scored its third consecutive podium finish at the World Rallycross of Canada last weekend.
Andreas Bakkerud and his Focus RS-derived rallycross car fought their way through four Qualifying rounds, producing a best result of third place in Round 1. In Semi Final Round 2, Bakkerud emerged on top, performing well enough to move on to the Final Round, where he finished in second place behind Timmy Hansen. After the No. 13 Focus RS RX’s first-place finish at both the Norway and Sweden rounds of the championship, this marks Bakkerud’s third podium finish in a row.
Andreas Bakkerud came away with 22 additional championship points from the World RX of Canada – enough to maintain his third-place standing in the championship. The No. 43 Ford Focus RS RX, driven by one Mr. Ken Block, produced a best result of second place in Qualifying. Block ended up in the first Semi Final round, where he finished fifth – two positions shy of securing a spot in the Final Round.
The next event on the FIA WRX calendar is the World Rallycross of France, scheduled for September 2nd.
