Plenty enough Ford Focus ST owners have expressed discontent for the hot hatch’s rather quiet exhaust setup, but what’s a fellow to do? A muffler-delete could incur fines in some jurisdictions, or at the least, unwanted attention, and that’s not even to mention how quickly that level of racket might get wearisome.
The exhaust specialists at Remus might have the solution in the form of a new cat-back exhaust kit for the Mk. III Ford Focus ST. You can hear the system yourself in the video above, unleashing the ST’s meaty, 2.0-liter bellow in a way not possible with the stock exhaust setup.
Remus’ stainless steel cat-back system for the current Ford Focus ST starts at $1,000 in the US, going up to $1,185 depending on the buyer’s choice of front silencer. According to the manufacturer, the system can add as much as 6.3 horsepower and 3.9 lb-ft of torque to the stock EcoBoost engine, while shaving off about 3.5 pounds of weight.
But of course, those gains are only secondary in terms of importance; the real reason to buy is the awesome sound. Check it out.
