Making its way to the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas tomorrow, along with a pack of other brand-new custom Ford pickups, is this: a doomsday-prepped 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty named “Shockzilla,” conceived and built by the folks at Fabtech.
Shockzilla was built on a Lariat-trim Ford F-250 SuperCrew, retaining that model’s available 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel and TorqShift 6-speed automatic. An aFe Power intake kit helps the engine inhale a bit better, while custom Fabtech cat-back exhaust stacks ensure that it can belt like Luciano Pavarotti.
Worried about how it’ll perform traversing a rocky, post-apocalyptic hellscape? Don’t be. Fabtech’s 2017 Ford F-250 concept has been fitted with the company’s 8-inch suspension system with Dirt Logic bypass shocks, as well as a set of long-travel leaf springs from Deaver Spring. Twenty-inch Wheel Pros Moto Metal wheels wrapped in overwide Nitto off-road tires sit at all four corners.
Better still: not only is Fabtech’s custom Ford F-250 pickup perfectly well-suited to roll through the fictional universe of Mad Max, but it looks the part, too. Radical custom paint from Haynie Designs, Rigid Industries auxiliary LEDs, Bushwacker fender flares, and a bumper guard and fender wells by Fabtech all join forces to lend this diesel Super Duty an over-the-top edginess.
Fabtech’s apocalypse-ready Ford F-250 Super Duty concept will be on display at the 2016 SEMA Show, running from November 1st through the 4th. Stay tuned for more SEMA news.
