When the annual SEMA Show kicks off early next month in Las Vegas, a handful of brilliant, custom Ford Mustang builds will be ready and waiting to vow for showgoers’ attention, including this: a military-tribute, 851-horsepower Ford Mustang GT from VMP Performance.
Built on the run-of-the-mill, 2017 Ford Mustang GT and its factory 5.0-liter Coyote V8, this patriotic SEMA concept makes its massive power with some help from a VMP Gen II-R 2.3-liter TVS supercharger kit and a custom tune. A triple-pass, dual-fan heat exchanger helps to manage underhood temperatures, and a TwinJet 67mm throttle body controls intake air flow. Dynatech long-tube headers and an awesome Cervini side-exit exhaust system void the spent gases.
Other performance modifications to VMP’s military-tribute Ford Mustang GT include a Mantic 9000 series twin-disc clutch, Roush Performance 3-way adjustable coilover suspension, and Brembo brakes from the Ford Performance catalogue. Forgestar F10D 19-inch wheels sit at each of the four corners, wrapped in Michelin Sport Cup 2 rubber.
Of course, design matters, too. VMP Performance’s 2017 Ford Mustang concept is shod in Avalanche custom paint, with military decor airbrushed on. Cervini supplied the custom hood with air extractors and plexiglass sight window, front splitter, rocker panels, and stalker low-profile rear wing. A tow hook from ZL1 Addons gives the Mustang some track credibility.
Inside, five-point safety harnesses fixed to a Brey-Krause R-1180 harness bar, and Recaro front seating with custom inserts and embroidery, take the pony car’s track cred even further. A Shelby GT350R steering wheel and Roush Performance pedal upgrade kit improve upon the stock car’s user interfaces, and a Shrader Performance rear seat delete kit is installed behind the driver. Aeroforce Technology Interceptor dual digital scan gauges populate the instrument cluster.
This custom 2017 Ford Mustang GT concept from VMP Performance will be shown at the 2016 SEMA Show from November 1st through the 4th. Stay tuned for all the latest out of that event.
