This 97-Year-Old Swede Drives A Brand-New Ford Mustang GT: Video

There is an unwritten rule that those of a certain age retire, hire a geriatric nurse or move into an assisted living facility, and just generally give up on ever having much fun ever again.

Lennart Ribring, a 97-year-old man living in Sweden, has opted not to follow protocol, instead buying himself a brand-new Ford Mustang GT with a manual transmission and cramming as much driving fun as he can manage into whatever time he has left. According to Road & Track, Mr. Ribring is the oldest Ford Mustang owner alive, and regardless of whether or not that’s true, he’s inarguably just about the coolest.

Surprisingly, this is not Lennart Ribring’s first Ford Mustang; he bought a first-generation example way back in the 1960s, and he’s “hardly thought about another car since then.” The above video from Ford Sweden was put together to tell Ribring’s unique story to the world, and in the process, it demonstrates that a passion for driving knows no bounds – not age, nationality, gender, religion, or race.

Way to do Ford fans everywhere proud, Mr. Ribring.

  1. Great story, hopefully many of us will be 97 and drive a Mustang. I also hope he gets to drive it for many more years. I have the exact same car.
