Ford Motor Company this week announced the hiring of Musa Tariq, 34, as company Vice President and Chief Brand Officer. He will start in his new role on January 30th.
Previously, Tariq was Director of Global Marketing and Communication for Retail at Apple. Before that, he was Director of Social Media and Community at Nike, and occupied some marketing and communications positions at Burberry. All of this has made him something of a “brand expert,” says Ford. In his new role, he’ll work to help build and differentiate the Ford brand around the world, reporting jointly to Ford Executive VP of Global Marketing, Sales and Service Stephen Odell, and Ford VP of Communications Ray Day.
“As we grow our business, we’re also expanding our focus on and investment in building and differentiating our iconic Ford brand, which is known, loved and trusted around the world,” says Ford President and CEO Mark Fields. “Our opportunity is to connect with even more consumers and stakeholders – some who never have done business with Ford before – through compelling and culturally relevant marketing and communications.
“Musa has led transformational work at some of the world’s most admired brands, and he is a leader known for challenging convention. We’re excited for him to bring his expertise, knowledge and passion to Ford.”
