Looking at the all-new, 2018 Ford Fiesta ST, it doesn’t seem as though a whole lot has changed compared to the outgoing model. Sure, the shape of the upper grille has morphed somewhat, and Ford has fitted it with some snazzy new wheels, but the overall shape and the placement of the character lines are essentially similar to what we’ve seen already.
Stare at the two side-by-side for long enough, however, and the differences become more apparent. The headlights have changed shape entirely, for instance, even though you could lay one design over the other and find very little space where they didn’t overlap. The fog-light surrounds, which were sort of trapezoidal on the old model, are now more hexagonal. The rocker panels are entirely different, and the lower character line on the new Fiesta ST looks as though it cuts much deeper into the side of the car, while the fender flares now blend more seamlessly in with the rest of the body work.
And of course, the patterns within the upper and lower grille inserts have changed rather dramatically. We’re quite partial to the new pattern.
Okay, then; there are plenty of differences in the design of the present and future Fiesta ST, if only you look hard enough.
