Ford recently displayed a brand-new paint color available on the Ford Focus Electric for the 2018 model year: “Outrageous Green Metallic.” The new shade was inspired by a “reconnection with nature,” looking approximately like a light-green bit of foliage – you know, because of all the trees you’ll be saving with your new electric car.
Or, if you’d rather, you can take the new paint shade as a reminder of all the green you’ll be saving by not having to visit the pump.
“Designers are encouraged to experience a feeling, bring it to the team, then collectively brainstorm ways to bring it to life through a paint color or material for Ford vehicles,” said Ford Color and Materials Design Manager Barb Whalen in a release. “Outrageous Green Metallic is a unique shade, symbolizing modern renewal and a reconnection with nature, then finished with a special tinted clear coat to give the color depth and vibrancy.”
The Ford Focus Electric was just revised for the 2017 model year, receiving a new, higher-capacity 33.5-kWh battery pack that lends the pure-electric vehicle a 115-mile range on a full charge. Compare that to the max of 76 miles that the 2016 Focus Electric could muster.
Also new for 2017 is a Combined Charging System (CCS) connector capable of DC fast-charging, allowing the refreshed Ford Focus Electric to regain up to 75 miles of range in 30 minutes at 150 amps.
