The all-new, 2018 Ford Expedition could accurately be called the most entertainment-friendly SUV ever to come from the Blue Oval, with in-vehicle WiFi for up to 10 devices and plenty of new ways to stream media inside the cabin.
The new Ford Expedition’s list of entertainment options includes the first-ever automotive application of SlingPlayer, which allows occupants to stream live TV using a home SlingBox account. An optional pair of 8-inch VOXXHirschmann EVO monitors on the backs of the front-seat headrests provide the playback.
The Ford Expedition’s entertainment system also allows for streaming from Android-powered smartphones using Miracast, and allows occupants to play media via USB, HDMI, and SD card. Third-row passengers can even connect mobile devices to the in-car media system and stream whatever’s playing on the headrest monitors. A pair of wireless headphones, each connected to either of the two screens, enables audio playback, while audio jacks for additional headphone sets are also provided.
And on top of all of that, of course, the Ford Expedition’s SYNC 3 infotainment center has both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to facilitate music streaming through a connected mobile device. SiriusXM satellite radio is available, and the SUV boasts an available, premium B&O PLAY speaker system.
“This entertainment system creates an entirely new viewing experience in the vehicle,” said Ford Expedition Brand Marketing Manager Craig Patterson. “It brings the smart TV experience to Expedition. Together, they completely change the dynamic of a family road trip.”
