We’ve been seeing a good deal about the next Shelby GT500 Mustang lately, and the most recent spy photograph to emerge is titillating, to say the least.
That is, it’s titillating so long as it is what we’ve been told.
A source close to Motor Trend snapped a pic of a supercharged V8 engine under the hood of a Shelby Mustang, claiming that it is a blown version of the same 5.2-liter Voodoo V8 used in the Shelby GT350, and that the car is a mule for the forthcoming Shelby GT500. You can see the photo for yourself at the Motor Trend website. Based only on the photo, we can’t be certain of either claim, but it does gel with what rumors we’ve heard in the recent past regarding the next super-potent ‘Stang.
But Motor Trend offers another potential explanation for the supercharged Shelby Mustang: that Ford is simply testing an OEM supercharger kit for the GT350. Of course, we prefer to believe that the spied car is indeed a Shelby GT500 mule.
