Traxxas Is Releasing A 1/10th-Scale Ford GT RC Car

Miss out on the chance to buy the Blue Oval’s all-new, $450k Ford GT supercar? Worry not; radio control model manufacturer Traxxas is coming along with a 1/10th-scale, remote controlled alternative, only it won’t cost you anything near $450k.

Coming mid-May, Traxxas’ Ford GT model RC car will wear a price tag of $319.99, and a detailed body about as faithful to the real-life car as you can get. No, it’s not fashioned from carbon fiber, but Traxxas did have to devise new, specialized plastic molding techniques to capture every last touch of the production Ford GT, including its unique rear buttresses. It even has realistic-looking taillights and exhaust outlets.

Regarding the mechanicals, the Traxxas Ford GT RC car takes a few more liberties. It rides on a common Traxxas chassis dubbed “4-Tec™ 2.0,” which boasts all-wheel drive and a dual-height battery mount that can accommodate a variety of battery packs. It also has what looks like a set of tiny coil-over shocks, which is – we’re sorry to say – significantly less cool than the real-life Ford GT’s actual dual-torsion-beam arrangement.
