Alcon Releases A Big Brake Upgrade For Ford F-150 Raptor: Video

The performance brake and clutch specialists at Alcon Components Ltd are concerned about your 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor’s ability to haul itself down to a stop. That’s why the aftermarket company has introduced a brake upgrade kit for the current-generation Ford F-150 Raptor off-road truck, which promises to deliver better thermal performance so that you can “brake harder, for longer,” with no fade.

Alcon’s F-150 Raptor brake upgrade kit consists of loaded ductile-iron calipers – 6-piston front, 4-piston rear – and vented, upsized rotors. All of that fits within the space allowed by Ford’s factory 17-inch wheels, while delivering a 10-percent reduction in disc temperature rise, and an awesome 33% decrease in pad work-rate for better pad longevity, according to Alcon. In addition, pedal effort is reduced by as much as 15 percent.

This Alcon brake upgrade kit isn’t just for the F-150 Raptor, mind you; it’ll work on the previous-generation, SVT Raptor, or any F-150 from 2009 on. Pricing isn’t listed on Alcon’s own website, but we managed to find the kit for $3,300 at Currie Enterprises. No additional changes to the factory brake setup are required; just install and bleed.
