Ford Australia is, at long last, now offering factory-backed performance parts for the Ford Mustang pony car, website CarsGuide.com.au reports. They are available from authorized Ford dealers country-wide.
The parts, offered for 2016 and 2017 model-year Mustang models, can be purchased and installed on brand-new cars prior to delivery, or bought and fitted on existing cars. Importantly, though, only the former option allows the go-fast bits to be covered by a 3-year/100k-kilometer factory warranty; parts installed after delivery will carry a lesser 1-year/20k-kilometer warranty.
Ford Australia’s list of available packages includes a Ford Performance-developed handling pack ($4,130) for fastback Mustang GT and EcoBoost models, which consists of lower coil springs, front and rear dampers, sway bars, rear toe links, and more. Alternatively, there’s a lowering spring kit ($1,260) that consists solely of the springs, finished in either blue or black, and drops ride height by 25 mm.
In addition, Ford Australia is offering a short-throw shift kit ($805) that reduces shifter throw by 19 percent on any manual-equipped Mustang GT or EcoBoost, as well as an exhaust upgrade pack ($3,584) for 5.0L GTs. The kit includes a stainless, mandrel-bent cat-back system with 2.5-inch-diameter plumbing and 4.0-inch outlet pipes with either a chrome or gloss black finish.
The Australian enthusiast market has been waiting a long time for factory-backed Mustang upgrade parts to start sale there; it was March, 2016 when we first reported on the possibility of factory go-fast bits being made available from dealers down under.
