Ford and Lincoln dealers in the United States delivered 241,126 new vehicles in May 2017, a 2.2 percent increase compared to May 2016. Ford brand sales increased 2.1 percent to 230,838 units while Lincoln sales decreased 4.9 percent to 10,288 units.
According to vice president of U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service Mark LaNeve, “May marked a standout month for Ford brand SUVs, with a May record 74,910 SUVs sold. Plus, we continued to see strong F-Series performance, with sales and share rising this year, along with average transaction pricing. In May, overall F-Series sales were up double digits and transaction prices grew $3,300 per truck.”

Sales types:
- Cumulative Ford Motor Company sales, which consist of Ford and Lincoln sales, increased 2.2 percent to 241,126 units:
- Retail sales decreased 0.8 percent to 158,282 vehicles
- Fleet sales, including daily rental, commercial and government segments, increased to 99,237 units
- Daily rental deliveries accounted for 15.7 percent of total sales, up 2.7 percentage points
- Commercial deliveries accounted for 12.4 percent of total sales, down 0.3 percentage points
- Government deliveries accounted for 6.3 percent of total sales, down 0.4 percentage points
- Truck sales increased 9.4 percent to 99,237 units
- SUV sales increased 4.3 percent to 81,324 units
- Car sales decreased 10 percent to 60,565 units
Average Transaction Prices (ATPs):
- Ford Motor Company ATPs increased $2,100, significantly outpacing an overall industry increase of $500
Inventory:
- Gross-stock May month-end inventory, which includes in-transit and dealer stock, was 691,265 units for a 72-day supply, representing:
- An increase of 3,295 units from the 687,970 units at the end of April 2017
A decrease of 11 days from the 83 days supply at the end of April 2017
- An increase of 3,295 units from the 687,970 units at the end of April 2017
- On-the-ground May month-end inventory was 573,549 units for a 59-day supply, representing:
- A decrease of 20,151 units from the 593,610 units at the end of April 2017
- A decreased of 13 days from the 72 days supply at the end of April 2017
Ford sales increased 2.1 percent to 230,838 units:
- Ford C-Max sales decreased 1.88 percent to 1,830 units
- Ford E-Series sales increased 35.23 percent to 5,389 units
- Ford Edge sales increased 11.05 percent to 13,752 units
- Ford Escape sales decreased 9.82 percent to 27,830 units
- Ford Expedition sales increased 13.86 percent to 5,758 units
- Ford Explorer sales increased 20.74 percent to 22,715 units, marking the vehicle’s best May sales performance in 13 years
- Ford F-Series sales increased 12.78 percent to 76,027 units, its best May sales result in 13 years; the truck family also saw a $3,300 increase in average transaction pricing
- Ford Fiesta sales decreased 32.02 percent to 4,181 units
- Ford Flex sales increased 7.13 percent to 1,938 units
- Ford Focus sales decreased 1.21 percent to 17,244 units
- Ford Fusion sales decreased 12.14 percent to 21,603 units
- Ford GT sales totaled 5 units
- Ford Heavy Trucks sales decreased 29.86 percent to 876 units
- Ford Mustang sales decreased 23.55 percent to 7,895 units
- Ford Police Interceptor Sedan sales increased 18.28 percent to 906 units
- Ford Police Interceptor Utility sales decreased 2.02 percent to 2,917 units
- Ford Taurus sales increased 23 percent to 3,027 units
- Ford Transit sales increased 1.18 percent to 13,801 units
- Ford Transit Connect sales decreased 28.38 percent to 3,144 units

Lincoln sales increased 4.9 percent to 10,288 units, its 16th straight month of year-over-year sales gains:
- Lincoln Continental sales totaled 1,061 units
- Lincoln MKC sales increased 16.74 percent to 2,524 units
- Lincoln MKS sales decreased 97.35 percent to 12 units
- Lincoln MKT sales increased 28.19 percent to 382 units
- Lincoln MKX sales decreased 4.01 percent to 2,682 units
- Lincoln MKZ sales decreased 13.82 percent to 2,801 units
- Lincoln Navigator sales decreased 2.94 percent to 826 units
In the first five months of 2017, Ford Motor Company sales decreased 3.6 percent to 1,073,123 units.
