The Mk III Ford Focus RS leaves the factory plenty loud – especially with its Sport or Track driving mode activated. That’s a good thing, too; the hot hatch ships exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission, and as any avid driver will tell you, hearing the engine is crucial to being able to execute smooth, easy rev-matching.
If, however, you don’t find the Focus RS’ factory exhaust setup quite loud enough for your taste for whatever reason, aftermarket options like those from Borla Exhaust might provide the aural volume you seek. The video above, uploaded by Borla to YouTube, gives us a taste of the company’s pair of available axle-back exhaust systems for the 2016+ Ford Focus RS: the S-Type, and the ATAK. Both provide a hearty boost in loudness versus the factory exhaust, with the S-Type being the more livable of the two, and the ATAK being aimed primarily at masochists.
Click play above to give both exhaust options a listen, and if you’re an owner looking to upgrade soon, don’t forget to check out offerings from the likes of Mountune, MagnaFlow, and others, as well.
