This week, Ken Block of Gymkhana and World Rallycross fame teamed up with Pennzoil to introduce a new sort of driving video to the world: “Terrakhana”. It’s exactly what the name suggests, packing the same sort of skillful stunts dispatched in each installment of the Gymkhana series, but using the Utah desert as a playground rather than a cleared-out city.
What it lacks in unforgiving concrete obstacles and tight corridors, it more than makes up for with its scenic views and frightfully steep cliffs.
Ken Block’s weapon of choice in this video is the same Ford Fiesta ST RX43 that he deployed in Gymkhanas 6 and 8. No ordinary Fiesta, the car packs 600 horsepower under the bonnet and can accelerate to 60 mph in 1.8 seconds, thanks in part to all-wheel drive and a Sadev 6-speed sequential transmission.
Could Terrakhana be the start of a new video series from DC Shoes co-founder and Hoonigan extraordinaire Ken Block? We’re unsure, but we’d certainly welcome it. For now, go ahead and click play to watch the pro driver kick up 600-horsepower-worth of dust in the Utah desert.
