Ford this week unveiled a new, limited-production Ford Ranger “Black Edition” at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Just 2,500 examples will be built, each standing as a distinctive and special execution of Ford Europe’s best-selling pickup truck.
The new Ford Ranger Black Edition is based on the premium Limited trim-level pickup with a Double Cab body style. The whole truck is shod in Absolute Black paint and de-chromed, rocking a front grille, alloy wheels, sports bar, and exterior details that have all been rendered in a glorious, matching black finish. It’s packed with special equipment as standard, including Ford SYNC 3 infotainment with an 8-inch color touchscreen and integrated satellite navigation; front parking sensors and rearview camera; dual-zone climate control; leather seat trim; and power-folding heated wing mirrors.
The new Ford Ranger Black Edition is just the latest in a string of special “color edition” models put out by Ford Europe over recent years, with other examples including the Ford Fiesta Zetec White Edition and Black Edition; the Ford Mustang Blue Edition and Black Shadow Edition; and the Ford Transit Black Edition. No word yet on pricing, but the regular, run-of-the-mill Ford Ranger Limited starts at £29,334 (about $38,750 US) including VAT.
